Thank you for inviting us to join you in the lovely memorial event. Yvonne was a special friend to us and we have many very happy memories from our days in Emery Down as well as our visits to her delightful apartment in Downton. Both of us and our Springer Spaniel Bramble were so lucky to enjoy Yvonne’s warm hospitality, humour and wonderful company.
What a beautiful collection of photos – although we did not have the privilege of knowing Chris, it is so obvious how much they loved one another and Yvonne often spoke of him.
You must all miss her so much and we send our love to you and all the family. Jenny and Jonathan.

Thank you for including me in this memorial. I think I commented before that she had a “life well lived” and the photos prove this. It was lovely to see Chris’s smiling face in the photos: I knew them both and don’t think I ever saw Chris when he wasn’t smiling.

The Childhood photos were charming. I had a lump in my throat throughout. You must miss her terribly. – Jo MacInnis (Mayfield neighbour).

All I can say is WOW!! What heart wrenching beautiful photos and moving memories of glorious, brilliant Yvonne for which very many thanks to you all. We would have been twelve or thirteen I think when first we met at Malvern and it was always a huge pleasure to be in her company – and a delight to see her more recently on the occasions she visited Norfolk. Last week we had our Old Girls’ Norfolk reunion lunch where she was fondly remembered by her few surviving contemporaries. My love and warmest wishes to all her wonderful family, Marianne

What a wonderful tribute to your mother and grandmother, to whom family meant so very much. I met her and Chris on our amazing holiday to Bulgaria and we shared so many laughs and good conversations. It was then that she told me about Chris’s illness and then after his death she came to see me in Northern Ireland and struck up a great friendship with my mother which continued until Mother’s death in 2009. A marvellous kind and special person Mayo

What a beautiful, thoughtful and moving collection of memories, photographs and music. You have all put together a wonderful tribute to (Auntie) Yvonne which reminds one of her enormous warmth, kindness, and laughter – enveloping hugs, generosity and good company always from both Yvonne and (Uncle) Chris. We all miss them both very much. Lizzie

Yvonne was such a love. She managed to be kind, responsible, caring, wise, all at the same time but conveyed the above with such a twinkle in her eye that although she might outwardly be on the side of disapproval, she also indicated that none of it mattered that much. This was a sure recipe to make people behave more decently than they might otherwise. It certainly worked on me. Harvey

I met Yvonne and Chris, together with their lovely family, in 1986 when they so kindly invited me to lodge with them in Orpington. My uncle, Peter Wilding, had trained with Yvonne, and they ended up living on the same road in Orpington! I was made to feel like one of the family, and was so very grateful for the abundance of kindness and generosity shown to me over the 34 years after this when I continued to visit and to have Yvonne stay with us in Worcester. She was such easy company. Always so interested in everything and everyone, and always putting people at ease, no matter who they were. And she loved pork pies – as do I ! I do miss her so much, but know that I will see her again one day. Dear Yvonne – thank you for being such a lovely person. Sarah x

It is so wonderful to see these beautiful photos of a person who enriched our lives so much. Your mother had the most comforting, beautiful presence and we are thinking of her and you all so much on this day, her birthday. We miss you Yvonne! XxxEmily & Daniel
