Memories from Emery Down

Some people make a very unique impression in one’s life and your mother was certainly one of those people.  I shall remember her for her gentle nature, her wisdom, her kindness and her sense of fun and joy for life.  Truly, a remarkable person – loved by so many.

We just loved the times we had with Yvonne – she was so interesting and interested.  I think we were all very envious of you – everyone wanted Yvonne as their mum – and definitely (having heard about her days in practice) would have loved having her as my GP – a true professional and dedicated GP.  Thank you for sharing your wonderful mother with the rest of us – our lives have been enriched for it and we will miss her great humour, compassion, intellect and kindness so much.

I knew Yvonne best through Christchurch and our local history group How We Used to Live based on Emery Down, Bank and Allum Green. She was a staunch and supportive member always willing to help, offer ideas and information particularly about Northerwood House. I admired your mother for her honesty, sense of humour and kindness. I remember her too for her facial expressions when a speaker talked too long or was not as interesting as we had hoped!

It has been the hugest pleasure and privilege to have known Yvonne.  She was an inspiration and her warmth and generous capacity for real friendship were precious in my life.
