Yvonne and Chris move to the UK – six weeks by ship.

Yvonne and Chris return to Malaysia (as now named), with three young children. Yvonne takes up job as “Medical Officer” – “a sort of Registrar” – at Assunta Hospital, near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Her parting reference from her Medical Superintendent:

“Her kindliness and pleasant disposition make it a pleasure to work with her.  Dr Griffiths has shown an all-round capability that is rarely encountered these days …”

Yvonne moves to South Malaysia, working at Jahore Bahru Hospital - Women’s and Children’s Outpatients Department

Working with Dr Greville Singh, they together see around 300 patients each day.  So busy are they, Dr Singh’s opening instruction to each patient is: “Give me one symptom only!”

1966 David born

Yvonne and Chris return with their four young children to the UK – to Mayfield Avenue in Orpington.

Yvonne works part-time in children’s clinics in Orpington, and in the community.

1968 Richard born

Yvonne joins St Paul’s Cray Practice, Broomwood Road, as a GP.

She will work there for the next 21 years
